Best Poker Hand Rankings

Poker Hand Ranking is an important aspect of Casinos that needs a detailed discussion. Let’s have a quick glance at the various Poker Hand Rankings. You can use this for guidance, even if you are sure that you know enough by now.

A poker hand is made up of five cards. The groups of the poker hand, from uppermost to lowest, are shown below. Any poker hand in an upper group beats any hand in a lower group. For instance, any three of a kind defeats any two pairs. The rank of the individual cards decides which is better when the competition is between hands in the same category. This is described in more detail as follows.

High Card Ace: E.g. A-9-5-3-2. If there is a tie, the next uppermost card is declared as the winning card.

One Pair: The highest pair wins; in the occurrence of tie, the top most card wins. For example: 97332.

Two Pair: E.g. Q-Q-4-4-2.

Three of a Kind: Here three cards have the same face card or numerical rank. E.g. KKK94.

Straight: Here five cards are in sequence. E.g. 7-8-9-10-J.

Flush: Five Cards belong to the same suit. E.g. 5-6-7-8-9 all of Hearts.

Full House: Two Cards have same rank while three cards have another. Example: Q-Q-J-J-J.

Four of a Kind: Four cards are similar. Example: 5-5-5-5-2.

Straight Flush: Five Cards are in same suit in arithmetic order. Example: 2-3-4-5-6 of Clubs.

Royal Flush: This is the most striking hand can get. Example: A-K-Q-J-10 in same suit.

Remember, as each poker game has some small variations, it does help to have a cheat sheet nearby for hand rankings. This is even more useful when you are playing frequent games online. The most widespread mistakes that new players do in Texas Hold’em are the “straight” and “three of a kind.” If you don’t know that a straight beats a three of a kind, you’ll keep it in mind after it beats you a few times.

Let us hope that these tips help you when you play Poker in the future. It is better to keep this info somewhere near your computer for ready reference. This will be especially helpful to those who are new to Poker. Just use it as long as you need it. You won’t need it after you get these Poker Hand Rankings memorized.
